Olga Seem

View slide showSLIDE SHOW   RÉSUMÉ  STATEMENT

Since 1993, the artist has been exploring forms from nature. In her Artist Statement, Seem says, “My work might bring to mind prehistoric plants, oddities and deformities, some of which are the normal evolution of nature. Closely examining a form's structure, I glean from it what I deem essential to creating my personal language. Often it is a microcosmic view."

While her new work has moved from the land to the sea, her signature elements have remained the same. In her current work, she mixes microscopic drawings of cell structures and single cell animals with the broader environment of the sea using the patterns of kelp beds, seaweed and turbulent sands to form pointillist backgrounds. Two magnificent triptychs form the heart of the show which includes seven paintings.
