Cody Bustamante was born in 1955 in Los Angeles, California. He is currently Professor of Art at Southern Oregon University.
Bustamante develops his work, both three dimensional and two dimensional, from a continued fascination with things that move fast. Cars, boats, planes, birds and rockets serve as bases for the expression of speed through the overlayment of traditional cultural symbols of movement such as flames, vortices and clouds. The richly colored canvases seem to be at home on both the street and the salon. |
